LO2: Character Profile
Hello! My name is Oliver and i'm 15 years old! My favourite hobbies are collecting action figures and a variety of merchandise related to my favourite films and TV shows, such as Game Of Thrones, Supernatural and Star Wars. I also enjoy playing Dungeons and Dragons with my friends on a Friday night and watching Anime. I'd describe my fashion sense as gothic but casual, I tend to wear a lot of dark colours such as dark purple, deep red, grey and black. I don't enjoy going to school so I always draw in class and put my headphones in, and as soon as I come home I play on my Xbox and go online to speak to my friends.

LO3: Task 4: Legal and Ethical Issues
There isn't many legal issues that would be involved, a part from the fact i would want to use background music and sound effects, and if i didn't make them myself i would need permission to use copyrighted music and sounds. If i wasn't able to use the music or sounds desired, i would create the sounds effects and get permission from a local artist to record and use their music.
One ethical issue that maybe considered could be the stereotypical way i made my main character look female, by showing aspects of the characters figure. I would be able to scrap my whole design and start from scratch creating it to look more appropriate for the audience.
LO3: Task 4: Moodboard and Target Audience.
Target audience: My short animated film would be targeted at young teenagers, mainly females as the film would have a strong female lead. They would watch films such as Nightmare Before Christmas and Lord Of The Rings. They would watch TV shows such as American Horror Story and Supernatural. They would have an interest in magic, mythical creatures and anything fantasy.
LO3: Task 4: Treatment
Title: Casters
Medium: Animated Fantasy short film
Running time: 5 minutes
Synopsis: Lucinda is a caster (witch) who lives in a tower with a talking cat called Hex that she has kept prisoner. There a light casters and dark casters, light casters are good witches and dark casters are bad witches. Lucinda is a dark caster. Wizards capture dark casters to avoid them harming other citizens. The wizards are plotting to capture Lucinda whilst Lucinda is plotting to kill the wizards.
Characters: Lucinda, Hex, and the gang of wizards.
Key scenes: The key scene is how Lucinda became a dark caster and why the wizards are so desperate to capture her.
Sound recordings: Lucinda would be played by a woman with a deep mysterious voice, and Hex would be played by a very well spoken british man.
LO1: Task 2: Comparison Of Animation Companies
Disney, Pixar, Dreamworks, Warner Bros Animation, Aardman all include fully animated CGI. These companies were all using 2D for a long long time, and these films are still classics, but CGI is more popular in the present day and will be used forever. Dreamworks stepped out of it's comfort zone first out of these companies, producing 3D CGI motion pictures. All the companies collabarated to create the film Flushed Away. Aardman eventually parted ways and moved on to working with Sony, and Arthur Christmas was created, also using CGI.
Each company has used 2D digital animation. This was used in the film The Princess And The Frog. Pixar have also used this in smaller projects such as Night and Day which is a short film they had created.
Disney and Warner Bros drew out their animation from scratch to create their 2D animation. Disney nor Warner Bros use this method anymore as it takes up a lot of man hours and they get much more success from their CGI, and they like the more realistic detail and not animated drawings.
A few Disney films have used stop-motion animation, which is a technique which physically manipulates objects to appear that it moves on it's own. Warner Bros considered using this technique with lego, but resorted back to using CGI.
LO1: Task 2 Analysis of one animation
Genre: The Genre of Disney varies, as they do family friendly films they don't involve genres such as horror or action, but adventure, Fantasy, comedy and musicals are all incorporated into the films.
Individual Animators: Nik Ranieri is a former character animator for Walt Disney Animation Studios. He has been supervising animator of many characters, and remained so until his layoff in 2013. He was the creator of the popular Disney film Wreck it Ralph and successfully used CGI to achieve the outcome of his animations.
Production process: Disney workers, would present there works after 12 weeks which would help their idea grow and improve as the would receive constructive criticism and feedback. This helps because then as a time they can achieve amazing goals and come out with an amazing final piece of work the audience will love.

Narrative/storyline: Peter Pan was originally called the boy who wouldn't grow up. The original idea was about Neverland being heaven and Peter Pan would take the children there. Disney changed the storyline completely to this as it was a little to dark for kids. Peter Pan is about a boy who comes down to the children to tell them about this amazing place they would never have to grow up "Neverland" his companion Tinkerbell is a pixie and she could sprinkle her magic dust on the kids to help them fly to Neverland with her and Peter Pan. Neverland is the giant magical place that contains lots of fun and adventures which the kids would do! But eventually the kids become home sick and can't get home which causes a lot of problems with everyones friendship. They come across evil enemies such as Captain Hook. Eventually the kids do make it home after lots of struggle and fighting. Then they say their goodbyes to Peter Pan forever and they all grow up and live their normal lives.
Target audience: Peter Pan is universal, so anyone can watch it, but it is mainly appealed to children, but is still a family film. It is all very unrealistic and based on imagination so for sure something kids would want to watch. I think it is mainly targeted more at young boys as it includes a lot of adventure, pirates and mainly boy characters. It is not your typical princess disney film for girls.
Characters/stars:
Peter Pan is the main character who is played by Bobby Driscoll, who also played Jim Hawkins is Treasure Island, the whole film is mainly about Peter Pan, hence the title.
Wendy Darling is the oldest child who is beginning adulthood, and is very frightened, which is why she wants to go to Neverland. She is played by a woman called Kathryn Beaumont who also plays Alice in Alice in Wonderland.
Captain Hook is the Villain in Peter Pan, he is actually quite a coward and useless which adds some humour to the film, he is played by a man called Hans Conreid who also plays Thorin in the original Hobbit film in 1977.

LO1: Task 1: Analysing existing animations
Company structure: Walt Disney Studios commonly known as Disney. Disney is a conglomerate.
Media Applications: Disney are very popular for their animated films, including the short films they have created. They have come a long way over the years and is very well known over the world due to Merchandise stores, Disney cruises and the most popular one Disney land, Outside of the two original resort areas in the United States, Disneyland in California and Walt Disney World in Florida, the Disneyland in Paris, Tokyo and Hong Kong offer subtly different selections of food, rides and layout to make the millions of visitors each year feel at home. Walt Disney have made Pixar well known and has come out with the best known animated films in the world.
Types of animations: There are many different styles and types of animation, Walt Disney has used many of them, he started hand drawing his own 2D cel animation, which had the income of Mickey Mouse who is the most iconic Disney character! Walt Disney worked with Alice Comedies featuring cartoons and a live actress.
After the success of Alice Comedies they did the same thing and came out with Mary Poppins and Bread-knobs and Broomsticks which was a huge success!
Disney also often used rotoscoping which was a very helpful animation technique. They would use actors and actresses to act out a scene and then trace over their figures and sketch in details.
To cut down on cost disney turned to using xerography, this was used in 101 Dalmatians, as it was easier to duplicate the puppies. This was also used in Winnie The Pooh.
Disney often uses CGI for the full length films, this became competitive with Dreamworks which were also very successful with films such as Shrek. Disney began to use 3D computer animated films like Chicken little. This film was less successful. Over the recent years Disney used the same technique for films that became a huge success such as Frozen, Big Hero 6 and Wreck it Ralph.
